Broken Heart Sonata - teaser

Requiem Of The Hearts:
Broken Heart Sonata

Prologue:
Broken heart, broken mind

“All passengers, please fasten your seatbelts,” the captain’s voice echoed in the ship. “The ship will be leaving the stratosphere in 5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .”

A strong force seemed to knock back the ship, but the people on board were already used to it. After all, this wasn’t their first time traveling to space.

“Passengers, we have now reached outer space. We will be turning on the artificial gravity field in a few moments, so please remain seated until the sign overhead turns off.”

The young fortune-teller paid the voice no mind. Still looking out the window, she wiped the tears off her face. Her lover, a young demon living on Earth, was dead. He saved her from Hell, from all those drugs she was forced upon by her demonic captives who wanted to turn her into their slave. He loved her more than anything, and she knew it—she had, of course, read his mind. His love was so great, even, that angels came down from Heaven, for the Almighty One would grant him one wish.

“I used to wish every night,” she remembered him say, “that I would one day become human. That’s all I ever wanted. But now, I have another wish—one far more important than my selfish desires.” But she would never know what it was, for his brother—a demon assassin sent by Satan himself—stabbed his heart the moment he was about to speak, because “demons with hearts shall not be allowed to live outside Hell, else their existence causes humans to cease fearing them.”

“The artificial gravity field has been turned on. You may now feel free to move about the ship. Passengers who have yet to remove their human cloaking devices may do so now. We shall be arriving to our destination on the next galaxy in fifteen minutes.”

All around the ship, people stood up and removed seemingly invisible devices from their heads, shoulders and/or backs, depending on the person, thereby revealing their animal traits. Some people grew fur, some scales, others just grew ears and tails, their human ears disappearing through the skin. Some even grew wings, revealing themselves as angels who wished to spread the word of God across the universe, or demons who grew hearts and are escaping from Hell, which, thankfully, exists only on Earth. The girl, too, stood up and removed a device from her pink hair, and two small cat ears popped out from her head. She also removed her belt from her jeans, which was also a cloaking device, and let her tail come out. She then placed the device on her bag along with the rest of her meager belongings: a katana that belonged to her late sister; her fortune-telling outfit, which she used to wear most of the time; a bracelet given to her by an old demonic friend; and the ring that her boyfriend used to proposed to her.

“Oh, gods, why?” she asked for the umpteenth time. “Why do you keep doing this to me? First my sister, then my planet, and now this? Haven’t I suffered enough?” Tears filled her face once more. She couldn’t stand it—her will to live left her along with her colossal strength, making her as vulnerable as a regular human. Mind you, a broken heart can do that to a person—she just never knew she had one.

“Kill me,” she begged at them. “Kill me now. I don’t want to live anymore—not like this. Kill me, please! I just want to die!”

Her weakened mind couldn’t take it.

“No more, please!” She couldn’t stop crying. “Take the pain away! Please!”

It was too much. Her mind was about to break.

“Make it stop…MAKE IT STOP!”

The pain was unbearable, both physically and mentally. She grabbed her head and bent down, crying uncontrollably. It was so incredibly painful, that she didn’t even feel the drugs finally taking effect.

“I can’t live like this! Please, just make it stop…please…Take the pain away…Take it away…Take…it…a…”

“Passengers, we have arrived at our destination on planet Xhil. For those of you who haven’t set their watches yet, it is now 6:21 in the afternoon, a perfect tome to witness one of this planet’s breathtaking sunsets. We know you have a lot of choices in cloaked spaceships for your trips to or from Earth, so thank you for choosing Air Nautii as your method of transport.”

All around the cabin, passengers waited eagerly for the ship to land—all, that is, except a single catgirl with a blank expression on her face, who was simply enjoying the vibrations of the ship with her body.

“Hey!” The young reptile guard shouted. “Lady, wait up! You forgot your—waaah!”

The man who was running towards her slipped, landing face down on the floor and dropping the girl’s bag.

“Lady, wait! Aw, man, she’s gone…Hey! Who forgot to put the ‘wet floor’ sign?”

Having no choice but to let her go (his shift had just started, after all), he grabbed the bag and took it to the security office. When he came back with the “wet floor” sign, however, he noticed that it wasn’t the whole floor that was wet, but rather it as a trail of liquid that seemed to come from Gate #5, and that went all the way towards the exit.

Meanwhile, a young catgirl walked absent-mindedly on the street, her face completely blank, not knowing where she was going, where she was, who she was…She didn’t notice anyone, anything, not even the liquid dripping down from her jeans on her latest orgasm.

=======================================

A story I've been working on for a while. I decided to put it on hold while I worked on my other story ("Heavy Addictions"), but since some of the characters on this story appear there, I decided to finish this one first. Dunno if the BBcode I used for bold and italics will work, though.

NOTE: This is still a teaser, so I might change it afterward. And yes, she's supposed to sound melodramatic right now (you'll see why later), although I MAY have gone a bit overboard... :/

Any critique would be really appreciated.
